The handheld dynamometer (MyoMeter M550) allows the user to quantify the force applied during Manual Muscle Testing.
Held by the examiner with the curved anvil placed against the body part to be tested, the limb is stabilized and held in the desired starting position. The patient is instructed to hold the limb in position and resist the force applied by the examiner. The examiner applies force gradually until the limb is depressed. The force required to move the limb is referred to as the 'breaking force'.
The MyoMeter is a load-cell device that can connect to Biometrics Ltd. interfaces – DataLITE, DataLOG or DataLINK. By connecting the MyoMeter to the DataLOG or the DataLINK and using the management and analysis software, force may be displayed and analyzed in units of Newtons, Kg or lb.
The MyoMeter may also be connected to the general purpose K800 Amplifier for direct connection to 3rd party instruments such as A/D cards, or be combined with EMG, joint goniometry movement data, or other sensor inputs into one simple system.
