Recent Conference Presentations

European College of Sports Science, 2007 Annual Congress. Bilateral Differences in Normalized Triceps Surae Electromyograms and Ground Reaction Forces During a Plyometric Task; Ball N, Scurr J, and Wood L; Electromyography (EMG) activity of the soleus, medial gastrocnemius, and lateral gastrocnemius of both legs was recorded using active bipolar pre-amplified disc electrodes manufactured by Biometrics Ltd attached to a Biometrics Ltd DataLOG EMG system.  Two force platforms were used to measure the ground reaction force.

European College of Sports Science, 2007 Annual Congress. The Normalization of Triceps Surae Electromyograms During a High Intensity Dynamic Task; Ball N, Scurr J, and Wood L;  This investigation aimed to assess the optimal EMG normalization procedure for the triceps surae during a high intensity dynamic muscle action.  Data was collected using Biometrics Ltd DataLOG and SX230 surface EMG sensors.

Proceedings of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society 50th Annual Meeting - 2006. The effects of a Stooped Work Task on the Muscle Activity and Kinematics of the Lower Back; Miller B, and Fathallah F;  Fourteen subjects were instrumented with a portable data collection system (Biometrics Ltd P3X8 DataLOG with SX230 EMG sensors) while performing the stooped work task of fresh-market tomato harvesting. Results indicate significant changes after only 11 minutes of stooped work.

International Society of Biomechanics, 2005 Annual Conference. Comparison of Two Ankle Electrogoniometers and Motion Analysis; Agraharasamakulam SN, Bonner S, Ojofeitimi S.  Comparison of the SG110 Electrogoniometer and the SG110A Electrogoniometer (both manufactured by Biometrics Ltd) against each other as well as against a motion analysis system. The study presented was looking at ankle motion on dancers, comparing the posterior placement of the SG110 with the lateral placement of the SG110A. Both ankle goniometers were found to have a high correlation to the motion analysis system and to each other.  The subjects found the SG110A (lateral  placement) to be more comfortable. This paper is posted at http://www.isb2005.org/proceedings/abstracts/0158.pdf

Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, 2005 Annual Conference. Muscular Forces and Joint Angles in Small-Handed Pianists: A Pilot Study on the 7/8 Keyboard versus the Full Size Keyboard; Wristen B, Wismer AK, Jung MC, Hallbeck S.  Surface EMG (collected using the Biometrics Ltd SX230 EMG pre-amplifiers) and movement data of the wrists and fingers ( collected using the Biometrics Ltd SG65 and F35 Electrogoniometers) was measured on two pianists to assess performance on the two different sized keyboards.  This paper is posted at http://digitalcommons.unl.edu/musicpresentations/3
